Ports are not the problem. It's ports barely anyone wants. People would like games like Pikmin, Metroid Prime, and Rogue Squadron on the Wii.
And if you want an example of working ports, see the Monster Hunter games, which are largely ports from the PS2, but they helped revive the system in Japan.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
