Theoretically, the problem is... very few people buy all 3 systems. Heck probably less then half of the consumers will buy 2 systems.
So plenty of people that would buy a PS3 now for 399.99 might not when it is 399.99 because they'll have an X-box or Wii or both. That's why it's so important to take an early lead and why it's been hard for the more expensive graphically impressive numbers to catch up historically.
The wii may change matters based on how cheap it's started out, however if anything that would be of more benfit to the wii staying ahead since it would almost defenitly be one of the two systems that the usual one system person would pick up.
