This thread fails.

You need to look at the *new* capabilities of the DSi (over the DS), and they are significant - not cherry pick random facts (and make incorrect conclusions):

1/ it costs too much=aleady a fail

The DS is selling like hotcakes, and this only costs 10%-15% more (and less than a PSP) - for all the new features.

2/ launchs with 2 colors why not copy the colors of ds lite

The DS lite launched with ONE colour :P. Launching with more than 2 colours would just be silly, it would impact the manufacturing capacity of the DSi at launch.

3/ the cameras horrible

How so, have you USED them? A 3MP camera (external) is better than many phones or other devices - and is more than enough IMO. 300kP should be enough for video chat (more than enough!).

4/ the sreen size increase is pointless come on .25 more inches

Yeah, bigger screens always equate to "fail" :P Now a smaller screen, THAT would be an improvement ;)

5/ NO GBA SLOT

Meh, I really don't care. I have clocked hundreds of hours on my DS - and less than 1% using the GBA slot (if that). I don't have a single game that requires it.

...

The only negative so far on the DSi (and the most important) is the battery life - something you failed to mention. And I'm still sure there is some "secret" to that (like keeping the WiFi always active, and acting as booster/bounce stations or something).

The music controls, the cameras, the appstore, the new built-in functionality - win all the way.

(PS - I was using my DS today, and realised just how significant the changes to the "underside" of the device are - it may now be missing screw points completely, and might be *impossible* to open once manufactured - without a saw anyway :P Not certain of this at all, but it would be a heavy strike against piracy/homebrew if true)

I agree with all you said Shams, despite the battery life.

Look people, the DSi has 5 different brightness settings, while the DS Lite only has 4. Now in the official information sheet the additional setting is listed as "normal" setting but honestly, would it make sense for Nintendo to not increase the maximum brightness of the screen? It definitely wouldn´t and I think it is safe to assume that the maximum brightness setting of the DSi will be brighter than the one on the DS Lite. Maximum DS Lite setting should be comparable to "high" DSi setting and the difference between those two in battery life is only 1 hour or so. The hour lost probably comes from the increased screen size so that would make sense.
