Question: isn't the DS Nintendo's biggest portable? It looks like Nintendo is edging away from the portable business, which may or may not be a good idea.

Exactly how is Nintendo "edging away from the portable business"? Nintendo constantly supports the DS, and when that dies down, they'll come out with a new portable to be sure.
Nintendo has issued a press release stating that it will shift resources to the Wii, from its other projects, which implies its handhelds.
