Which leads us back to reasoning, where he doesn't explain why the M-rated games interest him. He does clarify, that he's not arguing does rating equal quality, but, deliberately or not, he's still getting there. Maybe it's just a little bad wording, but it's the picture you can read between the lines. And of course he's entitled to like games by whatever metric he chooses, but i'd still be looking at reasons why he prefers M-rated games, where i'd suggest, that in the type of games he likes, the most quality titles are pushed towards the high age rating.
Making a metric for something mature isn't really easy. But if we look at how mature brain works, the game can't be too "flashy", it can't be a "reflex test", it can't be too fast, it has to be somewhat easy to learn and to play in bursts. It also should be somewhat sophisticated.
