Its not a full fledged console thus not many people will buy it. Even casuals have enough sense as I've seen in the past few weeks. Now if the pro was to hit $199...

Are you insane?  I bought it.  I can get a HDD used and then it's the exact same thing as the Pro AND cheaper.  I think you underestimate the economic issues in the world and how much $100 means to a LOT of lower income families.

Those lower-income families are, by and large, not looking to get video game systems anyway, and even if they are, they're likely looking more toward the PS2: a popular system with a huge and relatively inexpensive library. They're passing over this generation entirely.

The people interested in this generation can, by and large, afford something in the $300-400 range. Yet even when the Arcade and its ancestors were in this bracket, the Arcade failed to outsell its bigger cousins. Price is not the issue here; previous price cuts on the HD consoles have shown this, and it shouldn't surprise anyone that the 360 Arcade price cut is once again following the pattern: a week of high sales, a week of somewhat lesser sales, and then a crash-and-burn back to normal levels.

All this has happened before. All this will happen again. Why is anyone surprised that all this is happening now?

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
