@yushire: The "blindness" is mostly ignorance. And i'm not necessarily meaning ignorance of individuals, but the collective ignorance of gaming media in general. Yamauchi and Iwata talked about Wii (and DS) and their strategy years in advance, even Reggie was telling what they are doing in every conference and interview, but nobody ever cared to pay any attention. Then they say "wow, nobody saw that coming".
In the end, apparently it's not enough for Nintendo to tell that they aren't going to ditch their most profitable audience and release the majority of their games for the audience to back up their words. Nintendo releases four blue ocean games, and they are focusing on the new audience for some reason.
I wouldn't want to dissappoint you, but even that Wario is a core franchise, Shake It, as a 2D platformer isn't a core game (atleast on home consoles, handhelds have had some 2D platformers in recent years). The last "pure" 2D platformer i recall on home consoles, is Mischief Makers on N64, and that was a decade ago. What Shake It is, is a bridge game at most. It's primarly a title for gamers from the 2D era.
