Since this doesn't seem to be taking off, let's take another view on the matter; which would be increase in installbase and increase in the amount of investment.
DS was quickly maxed out, leaving only little room to push hardware further, when the increased investment is seen as increased number of games. Now, that Wii has more room to improve, while still being easilly maxed out, the increase in investment, is primarly seen as increased "quality" in games. So, the Wii, most propably, isn't going to see similar boost in 3rd party support as DS did and the decrease in 1st party support was because of the support moving to Wii. So the 1st party support on Wii depends on when Nintendo is going to release its next system that will eat away old systems support.
