First of all lumping Metroid with Mario, Smash Bros., Halo or any other huge seller is ridiculous. This is a good seller but not even close to any of those at all anywhere.

1st week- 135,000
End of September- 350,000

This game has a shot at 1 million by year's end but not too much more.

Edit: Also enough with the BS about game sites being biased against the Wii.... Metroid Prime is gonna insanely high reviews just as Zelda did.

Metroid Prime sold nearly 3 Million copies on the remarkably unpopular Gamecube and (as I said before) Metroid Prime 2 was released directly against the toughest competition I have seen any game face; How many games could compete against Half Life 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Metal Gear Solid 3, World of Warcraft and Halo 2 and still break 1 Million copies sold?

Name Console Publisher Japan America Others Total
Metroid Prime Nintendo 0.12 1.92 0.73 2.77
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Nintendo 0.07 0.82 0.37 1.26

A couple of months before the release of Metroid Prim (September 2002) the Gamecube only shipped 6.69 Million consoles worldwide and 3.22 Million consoles in North America; this means that the Wii will have sold more hardware by the time Metroid Prime 3 is released than they had sold of Gamecube hardware when Metroid Prime was released.

On top of that the Metroid Prime games have a history of high quality and it is likely that Metroid Prime 3 will retain that quality.

(With the exception of Madden) It will be the top selling game in North America in August and Will have sold 1 Million copies by the time Black Friday comes along; it will also sell a lot of copies at christmas when Nintendo fans pick it (and Zelda) up along side Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros.
