Congratulations to the topic poster on his incredible luck. See you in two weeks after the sales crash and burn.

Calling heads or tails when flipping a coin and getting right is luck. Analyzing and predicting when for the first time this generation the 360 will beat out the Wii is skill.

But his analysis wasn't correct. Among other things, the Wii rebounded from its supposed "massive year-over-year drop" to sell almost 28,000 units this week: about the same as it sold last year. Stick's prediction depended on this drop continuing, and it didn't. The 360 outsold the Wii anyway, but not the way he predicted that it would. Ergo, luck.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
