Ok, let me disect this joke of a list. (All latest iterations under Metacritic) Unreal Tournament 3 (2007) - PC: 83, 360: 82, PS3: 86 Quake 4 (2005) - PC: 81, 360: 74 Doom 3 (2004) - PC: 87, Xbox: 88 Return to Castle Wolfenstein (2001) - PC: 88 Duke Nukem 3D (1996) - PC: 89 Of the mentioned, not one is "AAA" 90%+ (Except, Half-Life 2, which I think is the only one that can compete. That's the reason why I didn't include it's score, because I, too, believe it can be said in the same breath of Halo.) ----------- Halo (2001) - Xbox: 97 Halo 2 (2004) - Xbox: 95 Halo 3 (2007) - 360: 94 And those are reviews. Now, lets talk with more than just numbers shall we? Halo 3. Single player System Link Amazing original score composed by Marty O'Donnell Meta-game (rack up points by killing baddies in the campaign, You can play it co-operatively or competitively to see who gets the most points) Offline splitscreen 4 player co-op Online 4 player co-op (or even mix, 2 splitscreeners with 2 more online) Custom games Most balanced set of weapons Player customization Amazing party system (Switch from one game type to another without kicking everyone or whatever those games do. Example, Moving a party from Campaign to Custom Games is effortless) Matchmaking (Let's you level up your rank, and continue to play people with around same rank as you, probably the most fairest system online) Robust vehicular combat (online, offline) Game types gallore (Standard CTF, Assault, Slayer and the such, to even more unique ones such as Grifball) Forge (Make crazy things, dropping in and out, in existing maps. You can turn any map into a racetrack for example) Theater Mode (Capture all those WTF? moments <---- Huge feature. Screenshots, Videos, Sharing it to anyone else) Online Community (Bungie.net. Check your stats, k/d ratio, where you died, number of kills with certian weapon, medals you got.) Most flawless online maps, there are nothing "cheap" about any of them. And there are more I can add, I want to go to bed, I'm going to bookmark this and come back to it tomorrow. .... Now can you honostly read what I wrote, and call it "average"? All those games you mentioned up there don't even have HALF of what Halo 3 offers. Now I stick by my statement that any Halo rips Resistance in half. |
I was meaning franchises and you just proved how big of a console fanboy you are. Arguing with you would be pointless. You really don't understand PC reviews are total perfectionist pricks compared to the console reviewer-fairies. Comparing people like Greg Miller and Jeff (guy who was fired from GameSpot) to people like Jason Ocampo and Ed Zitron is like comparing an Apple to a Mountain. If Spore in its state was released on the 360 it would have easily received a 10/10.
Also check your facts. I owned an Xbox, 360, and the PC copy of Halo. I also owned Halo 2 (disc got scratched to hell).
