It is a remake of the Nes game. Considering that the Psx remake never go a english release I must get this one. It is more of a Enix game, so there is still hope. It is pretty hard to screw old school gaming. But you are right about random encounters. Avoid this if don`t have time for a grindfest.

The remake is very  good. I appreciate the renew interface ( the original one is a bit too clumsy ).

Battle are really fast ( you can even set pace of them ). The monster animation and magic are very quick and lovely and many battle last  1 or 2 turn. I finish many normal battle in less than 10 seconds.

It piss me off that people think that DQ8 is the origin of the saga ( because it is the first DQ in Europe ). DQ8 has the slowest battle in al the saga.

This is a great game ( wait until you play the 3rd chapter ).
