@Lemmiwinks: I know what Miyamoto have said. The quote also said that Wii Music is more interesting than a videogame, which after all only supports my view on the OP.
Anyway, being a "toy" instead of "game", is an example of product orientated view, meaning that the product itself would decide its job, when it's the products user to decide.
What Miyamoto said actually is, that Wii Music isn't built as games traditionally are (notice that games are toys).

Not really, what I posted is his exact qoute, and he says that it is a Musical Toy, and not a Video Game. So your OP doesnt stand, as you are saying it is the greatest Video Game, which the guy creating the thing says it is not a Video Game.

It would be the same as me saying that Honda Civics are the best Full Size Trucks on the market, just because I choose to call them that doesnt make them that.

Just because anyone short of a corpse can waggle their way to the end of any song on the disc doesnt make it a great game, or a game or really anything except a flash app you would spend 10 minutes with at the office waiting for the damned clock to hit 5.

As for product oriented view or not, again the creator of the game himself is saying it is not a game. There has to be a definition of a game that has to be rigid. If we can change the definition of something just to suit our needs we end up with things like Torture being called "Inhanced Interogation".

My definition and the one I find the most on the net is;

Game - Noun :A contest, sport or pastime with rules to determine a winner.

A toy is something you play with to amuse yourself. A Game is something with scoring, rules or a goal that you have to get to using skills, wit or timing; which none of these things are present in WiiMusic.

Using your idea, I could say MSPaint is the best video game on the market, its free, billions of people have it and anyone can pick it up and do something amusing.

Do you think MSPaint is the best video game on the market?

You don't play games to amuse yourself? Look, you are describing a product in job orientated view, but still saying it describes the product itself. Look at the definition, isn't "game" the job, that the toy performs. So there must be a definition, but it's about the products job, not about the product itself.

For example, a ball isn't a game, but you can play a game with it. And that's what i'm talking about here. A lot of people play their games as toys (by the definition you used for a game).

We still don't know about the gameplay in Wii Music, aside a few videos, so we can assume, that you can play a competition in it, with rules you set yourself with your friend.

Anyway, the topic isn't about arguing about definitions. The idea in the OP is Wii Music being a game that challenges the traditional idea of videogame (as Zucas pointed out in the first page, the iidea feels revolutionary when you think it further) and removing obstacles that keep people out of games, which makes it an ultimate videogame.

You can't call Paint an ultimate videogame, since it has too many obstacles considering the learning curve.
