To inform you, the 360 will have a big shipment on 11th. Seems M$ need to make sure they send more 360's to Japan regularly now. Seems to me Price cut is in tie with the big shipment.

Thanks for the information.  The 360 moved 860 units in Japan last week.  I hope that shipment isn't too big.

It seems that it's a large shipment - Microsoft has had 3 weeks to send new units to Japan. Why do you hope the shipment isn't too big? Afraid that it may start selling well, and beat out the inferior PS3?

Careful... Those could be crow eating words..

What does MS have to lose in Japan? nothing really.. yeah they spent millions in marketing to promote the product and they've succeeded in surpassing the original, but really they only have one way to go.. and that is UP!

So even if the sales only go up for a couple weeks and die down again MS will be exactly where it was before... on the other hand if the 360 does gain momentum, which I admit is rather slim, posts like yours will be quoted for weeks.

All I'm saying is never say never, if we've learned anything this generation is that anything can happen!

360 fanboys -  "360 Japan Domination Starts.... ", PS3 fanboys -  "World Wide Domination Starts...."

Both can dream right??

The 360 will likely see increased sales in Japan after the week, but like you said, the chances of any real momentum are slim. And yes, the 360 has surpassed the Xbox, and it achieved that quite a while ago. But Microsoft had to spend so much money doing it, and I seriously doubt they're making money on each 360 hardware sold in Japan (especially when there has just been ANOTHER price drop).

As for hopes and dreams, none of them will come true this generation unless you're Nintendo (or you set your standards fairly low).

Onimusha: Was it really necessary to quote such a huge conversation just to add your sarcastic little quip? The PSP is successful in Japan, which makes sense since it's a handheld. I wasn't even pointing out the PSP's success so much as the fact that at least Sony still has one viable console in Japan, whereas Microsoft has none. Or you could ignore that and look towards the battle between the PS3 and 360, but it's barely significant enough to matter.

I don't know about that.. I would like to point out the following things that where deemed impossible

- GTA exclusive DLC on the 360
- FFXIII port for the 360
- Star Ocean 4 Exclusive to the 360
- 360 outselling the PS3 in Japan (twice!)
- 360 selling out in Japan
- Japanese developer support

Anyways, like I said, this generation is full of surprises, and I can't wait to see what 2009 brings!
