Of course the key difference for the 360 is that it has a solid 3 year library built up. Whether all those older games factor in to increased value perception remains to be seen though. In the past, big, established library plus mass consumer pricing meant mass consumer adoption. Of course that formula only applied to the Playstation over the last two generations as the dominant brand.

I agree. The original Xbox dropped below $199 after 6 months on the market. It spent most of its lifecycle below $200. Of course a majority of its sales would be at this price point. The console manufacturer needs to be profitable at the sub-200 price point because these consumers will buy less accessories, games, and online services. It will be a problem for MS because they will be losing more money now.
