LBP will be a great game, but from everything I've seen it's not so simple for non video gamers. You can't just stick the controller into a non video gamer's hand and realistically expect them to do very much.
That's why Wii Sports is so great at attracting new customers. Anyone can start playing with almost no instruction, yet even an accomplished video gamer can have some fun too. There is no learning hump which makes allows the Wii to sell itself without the intervention of an 'expert'.
A learning curve is like a brick wall to non video gamers. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but it's a reality. LBP has a learning curve, maybe not a huge one, but it has one.
