My guess is that because the 360 is much bigger than the PS3 in America, it gets more attention from game stores. And while the Wii is even bigger than the 360, the Wii is going out of its way to court the mainstream, whereas the 360 is content to stick with the old base of young males (which is the same demographic that Gamestop primarily caters to).
Check out the Walmarts, Best Buys, and other big box stores, and you'll see that it's the Wii that's favored over the HD consoles, because that what those stores' customers are looking for.
