Yes.
You see...Nintendo is always trying to figure out ways to make online interaction as safe as possible for the children. This is what ultimately upsets hardcore gamers who want a little taste of the XBoxLive.
I think a headset would be nice...but this is at least a nice compromise. And expect third-parties to offer up a much different solution in the near future.
