Wasn't the Nintendo figure FY 2008 and i believe Sonys FY 2008 is the current one, so there shouldn't be 2008 figures but for Q1.
Anyway, the amount of profit doesn't equal with "money that can be spent on videogames". For example Sony has many businesses, into where the money has to be spent and as a rule, you could say that businesses that make money are worth investing. So, they arent going to give life support for businesses, that aren't making them money.
In order for SCE and M$:s entertainment division to be able to continue, they need to focus on making profit, instead of being moneyholes, so the companys overall profit doesn't have much to do with the money that they invest to games.
Sony has stated that they may not recover the PS3 losses with the system, M$ aims to make profit with 360, which are clear signs, that they won't be investing huge amounts of money for the consoles if you can't get the money back.
