Media capabilities are not a deciding factor for me, but they are a factor. For example, Although the main reason I got a PS3 instead of a 360 was i already had a PS2, I was quite interested in the BD player and the PS3's more open media player seemed better than the 360s. (it wasn;t so much at launch, but now, after all the FW updates, the PS3 totally owns the 360 as a media center)
Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
