I don't quite understand all the bashing the ps3 got myself.

1. I don't really remember any time a system launched with a bunch of great titles. Generally it's like one or two standout titles and a bunch of crap. 360 and Wii suffered the same problems. I just hear less people talking about it.
You are right for the most part. Outside of the Dreamcast, I can't recall a console that had an excellent launch line up.
2. Loss of BC sucks. I didn't hear that many people bitching about it on the 360 and I'm sure Sony will fix it in time much like Microsoft did and get some extra money selling those old games again instead of letting retailers of used games get all the profits. If you really care that much i believe you can still scout one of the mgs bundles to get BC.
I disagree with you here. 360 owners were complaining about the BC on the system. Not only that Sony execs and fanboys were quick to mock the 360's BC issues. This is part of the reason Sony and there fanboys get so much flack on the BC issue. They made point to market the PS3's near perfect BC and then unlike the 360 the BC has gotten worse on PS3 going from hardware to software to none at all when it comes to PS2 games.
3. I don't remember nearly as many complaints about the Xbox library being mostly ps2 ports. More games equal more for gamers to play. No one is bitching about Capcoms ports for Wii.
Reviewers often remarked how they were disappointed that 360 launch titles were original X-box games in HD. I can't speak for the community at large but there are several posters here that complain about Capcom's Wii ports. Heck look at any of the Dead Rising Wii threads.
4. Sony's online wasn't as good as Live at Launch. Microsoft's Live wasn't as good as it is now at 360's launch. They added a lot of things to live over the course of the first year of the 360. it didn't come with in game dashboard and plenty of features that were added later. I remember because i did tech support for the 360 which is a large part of why i will never buy one.
I've had a 360 since launch. It had in game Dashboard from the beginning. Sure Live has had other features added over the course of time and that's part of Sony's problem. They are always playing catch up to live. Live is always adding new features and Sony never seems to catch up. Consumers aren't going to care that Live has been around longer they are just going to see it as more feature rich. Plus certain things, like having to install demos after downloading them, was never an issue Live had but one that PSN continues to have.
5. Interesting is a matter of opinion. I haven't found much that's interesting at all this generation of games on all consoles so far. But that's why i never buy a system when it first comes out. i wait for libraries to evolve and present something that i do find interesting. I do hang out with many people who do so i can get impressions of the software lineup but all three have been vastly disappointing to me.
I can respect that. I wish more gamers followed your logic. Too many people buy consoles assuming that they will receive certain games and get angry when they don't.
6.Installs suck on the ps3, now everyone rejoice because the 360 is going to get them?!?
The problem most gamers have with PS3 installs are that they are mandatory. The upcoming 360 install update is optional. Mandatory installs aren't an issue for some but I personally don't like the idea that I am going to have save "x" number of GBs for each game I play. It takes away from the plug and play nature that makes consoles convient. The costant system updates are annoyance enough. The 360 updates allows those that like installs to get their load times cut downs and those that just want to pop their discs in the tray to both get their way.
7. Price drops will happen over time. If i don't pick up a ps3 this winter for LBP the only "Next Gen" game I'm still looking forward to, i'll be waiting for a 299 price point which i expect to be here no later than March 2009 which will give the online community some time to blossom and see if it's really worth it. Or if they bundle a ps3 with LBP and a ps eye for 399.

The last part is your personal, and well thought out, PS3 purchasing plan. So I have no reason to respond to it.
