I'm not sure as to your gaming experience, but if you have never played a sRPG, let me strongly urge you to test one out, and not to assume that it's just like a jRPG with squares.
It has characteristics of that genre certainly, but you are looking at entirely different gameflow, gameplay, and pacing. Not everybody likes this genre, and in fact, I'd guess that more people who try it, hate it, and not.
Good luck with your decision, and I hope you let us know. I myself, am waiting on reviews before I preorder anything.
