@horriblebastard: Yes it does. And that's where people complain "3rd party games don't sell on Wii" or "but Nintendo makes so much better games we can't compete", like Carmack as the latest example.
I wouldn't say the "tacking on" is because developers feeling obligated to the controls, it's because their stupid mindsets, where they genuenily believe that people are buying Wiis because of controls and then they just use the controls for the reason the controls are there, without putting any thought to it. If you look at the games Nintendo have published, none tries to use the controls the way they don't fit. Twilight Princess uses them only for the basic slash, MSCF only for tackle, SMG for attack and collecting the starbits, Brawl basically nowhere etc. so Nintendo doesn't use the controls where they don't "belong", unlike many of the third parties.
And your example was just the thing i was talking about. Besides, when looking into future, the games industry is going to survive only as long as people are interested in games as games. When you look at the "hardcore", you could really see the "end of gaming" coming.
