Unfortunately we all know this Fall has left somewhat of a sour taste and a lot of people aren't happy with it. I have the luxury of putting my dollar towards DS, 360 and PSP(HA! yeah right) games, but others are not so lucky.

I can't deny that's true amongst many of us forum-goers. Still, I think that's more of an image than a reality problem, which is what I was trying to get at in my last post. There's quite a bit there for the "core" gamer coming out these next few months (although I'll be the first to admit that I'm never entirely sure what that term encompasses nowadays, even if I do know that Mario Sluggers ain't it). And I think that's what this and many similar threads have been trying to say: Nintendo may be MIA, but third-parties are actually picking up the slack on a Nintendo console for the first time in over a decade (hence the "odd feeling" I referred to in the last post).
Sure, people who already favor the HD consoles aren't going to change their minds this holiday season, but looking at the Wii exclusives and multi-plats, it seems to me like there's something for every taste, and that the Wii doesn't lag all that much behind the HD consoles in most genres (BIG exceptions: FPS and sandbox). Shoot, Activision's major franchises are all getting unaltered versions on the Wii, most Japanese companies have the lion's share of their console releases on the Wii nowadays, and the Wii is specializing in the quirky games that I find most appealing (Little King's Story and Rune Factory get!). In short, the light isn't as dim as it appeared at first blush.
Having said all that, I have to add in the disclaimer that most of the big HD games this winter don't appeal to me personally, save for Prince of Persia and Mirror's Edge, so perhaps my blanket statements aren't as all-encompassing as I'd like to believe.
And I agree with your ultimate point to Nirvana-Nut. From personal experience I know that when you start such a thread, you need to be prepared to finish it (which after my last experience is precisely why I won't be making these threads in the near future anymore. Although no one will ever make a longer post than I did!) So, Nirvana, the ball's in your court now.
Looking forward to what you come up with!
