I played the Blob and Taffy almost exclusively.   The Blob's "Toot on the Camera" move was the nastiest normal counter in the game IMO.  It was like G&W's Turtle in Brawl but with twice the range.  If they jump?  Toot.  If they charge?  Toot.  If they back away?  Vroom then Toot.

Taffy was nasty as well, but he was great simply because half his moves insulted the opponent.  ^_^
