Sony doesn't have to 'let' them do anything. They would buy it from the Blu-Ray Disc Association, just like any other company that wants to use a BR would.
Yeah, I could see them doing it with the NextBox, unless they come up with their own disc, like Nintendo has done with Gamecube and Wii.
