Literally all the sensor bar is is 2 LEDs. It doesn't actualy communicate with the Wii in any way, whatsoever. The only purpose for the cord is power. You can get a couple of LEDs for pennies each, and just place them where you would place your sensor bar.
Just make sure that they're placed where the ends of the sensor bar would be
