I bought a Wii at it's launch, because it was by far the console that appealed most to me.
On a different note, yes, I did buy a DS, PS2, PSX and SNES - But I had no idea they were in the lead. I however also bought a PSP, GC, N64 and Sega Genesis. Your argument is moot.
EDIT: On another note, I find it hard to imagine that everyone would buy a Wii because it's in first place, because if that was the case, it wouldn't be in the first place from the very beginning. It's what we call a paradox.
