Nintendo And Its E3 Fans: A Failure To Communicate

I honestly do not believe that Nintendo was oblivious to the effect of what they were doing. Basically they did the same thing that the other two manufacturers did. Which was a twisted game of do the bare minimum. They all used the show for low echelon announcements. Saving their better material for the true game conventions later in the year. Right now E3 is so unimportant that developers are actually deciding to stay home, and save the money. Most of what the Manufacturers did was for forms sake.

The only thing I begrudge Nintendo for is not having a single silver bullet in their conference. Both Microsoft and Sony managed to have one silver bullet. Then again Microsoft probably felt very honor bound to have the best showing at E3 being an American company, and E3 having once been the premier American gaming event. I suspect Nintendo will feel the same way about the Tokyo Gaming Show, and perhaps Microsoft will feel the opposite way.

I say on the scale of things this grievance like E3 itself will quickly fade from the public eye especially since it will be rectified in a month.

I also think that the complaining is going to be short lived.

E3 is virtually the only gaming event that gets covered by the mainstream press in the US.  There were articles in the New York Times about it (definitely on the website, not sure about print).  This is a great opportunity to get word out to the casual fan.

The core fan is watching for announcments 24/7 anyway.  Why waste time at E3, on this group?

I agree that this complaining will be short lived.  As soon as Nintendo announces their next core game, all will be forgiven.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was in time for the holidays either.
