And back on the original topic: why do people buy so many Wii games with low scores and people don't buy the PS3 games with the higher scores?

The first thing that comes to mind is the old topic of "do reviewers really know what they're talking about" and "do reviewers know how to review Wii games?" If what Kwaad is saying is true, then yes, reviewers know jack crap. It turns out all those Wii games that scored less than 60 really are fun despite the bad graphics. People simply want to have fun and that's what the Wii is letting them do.

Another thing that comes to mind is people just want something new. Rather than buy x iteration of Generic Shooter 7 or Super Mud Car Rally Extreme, they buy Red Steel and Excite Truck because they offer something different. Whether you want to admit it or not, before last November the game industry was in a major rut. Nothing new was really happening for the most part, there were sequels galore, and everything was becoming stale. The Wii promised to change that and people took the bait.

The last thing that comes to mind is perhaps the Wii just does have better games. I know you like to call them crap games because the games aren't your cup of tea, but apparently a good number of people don't think these games are crap. They play them, they have fun, they tell their friends about the games, their friends play the game and have fun. I've convinced a crapload of people to buy a Wii just by letting them watch someone else play Rayman: Raving Rabbids and I've convinced even more people to buy Super Paper Mario and RE4 because they're just so great, even if they are ports or two years old.

So there you have it. When you talk to a Wii owner, you get a wide variety of answers. when you ask a PS3 owner the same question, you usually get 1 of 3 games. If you really want to see this in effect, go ahead and start a What are you playing on your Wii right now? thread and then do the same for the PS3 and 360 and see what happens.

Who knows, maybe if you ask that question you might get an idea of why the Wii is going to sell more than 10 million consoles before it's been out a year, 360 sales have seriously slowed down, and PS3 sales only rise when they cheapen their console.
