You said this:
"So basically, my synopsis is that the Wii attach ratios are not very good in either country"
I suppose you didn't technically use the word "poor," so if you'd like to substitute in "not very good," that's fine -- but I didn't really twist your words very much there.
What's the ultimate source? Total software sales! Look at those again: the Wii has a much higher attach rate LTD than the PS3 does (over 33 percent higher), and has approximately the same attach rate LTD as the 360 in Japan (again, 8 percent lower). You're not seeing the forest through the trees. You can claim that each individual tree is not so great (weekly tier ratios) but then when looking at the whole forest (attach ratio for the entire lifespan of the Wii), the Wii is doing quite well!
American sales I'm simply going to have to set aside for the moment, because we clearly can't agree on the validity of Sports/Play. The only region that offers clear, definitive evidence is Japan, since we have total hardware and software sales to date. Simple, effective, and definitive calculations. And again, in that region -- the Wii isn't just doing well, it's doing great!
