I would consider Loco Roco to be a hardcore game considering that it is too difficult for many casual gamers. I think you missed the point of the article, Nintendo's new IPs are almost all casual. Now-a-days all Nintendo provides for core gamers are sequels, sequels and more sequels when this wasn't the case the last console generation.
