Here's why I see it as a price cut:

The 60GB PS3 is a "complete" PS3, whereas the 20GB PS3 formerly at that pricepoint was not. It didn't have the card reader, it didn't have WiFi, etc. It was nerfed. I'm not going to pay $500 for the CRAP version of a $600 item. I debated long and hard whether to get the $600 PS3, but the idea of getting the $500 one didn't last more than ten seconds.

For that matter, if my PS3 (I did eventually get it) broke down and all I could get to replace it was the 80GB version, I'd face a new conundrum. No Emotion Engine? Nerfed.

The 20gb PS3 IS and WILL ALWAYS be a complete PS3. You can't say it isn't - it has all the features necessary to play games, what little games is has ... but it's a functional machine right now. Sony was the company who said it wasn't ... and yanked it like a bad lil boy.

Like it's been stated earlier - who cares about wifi, a stinkin' card reader and bigger hd space? It's NOT NECESSARY to game. A nice addition? Maybe ... but I am old enough to have seen just how far wifi has come - it's very unreliable compared to a wired connection - and when the wifi radio dies - and trust me - they do quit transmitting (I have 5 wifi routers that just ... stopped working/broadcasting) and guess what still worked? You guessed it ... the wired router part of the wifi router. Funny, huh?

Still, I am old enough also to remember the VHS-BetaMax fight ... and I am not about to hop into it ... for what? A few sharper pixels? Please. I have over 400 DVDs and not too crazy about switching formats until the sharpness is lightyears past the current DVDs ... and it's just baby steps.

And someone earlier called me an anti-PS fanboy - not true. I am a reformed PS fanboy - I know how they operate - got a PS1 opening weekend, a PS2, a PSP opening day, the PS2 HDD kit with Final Fantasy - and close to 200 PS games. I have watched them make tons of mistakes - orphan products - and just release something else ... and a lot of folks have been stuck in the cold, wondering 'I paid my hard-earned money for this crap?!'

Sony is handing the hard-fought crown over on a silver platter.

And price cut? You think that's for YOUR benefit? These clowns have FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED that the PS3 stateside was on life support ... and said their fire sale would revive it. For some folks, they think they are getting a great deal - wow! 60gb of greatness, and a Blu Ray player? Plus 5 free Blu Ray movies? Where do I sign up? Yet ... it's not a good deal. Sony's jackass decision to include Blu Ray was a horrible mistake.

Guess what? What if MS added *Blu Ray support* to the 360 at the same price? It's not so much prices with fans, but fans want ... GAMES. And Sony, big, giant crabs and all (they should go to the clinic and get that checked), is sitting around, really thinking they are gonna win. They won the PS2/Xbox scrap because of GTA exclusivity. That single-handedly killed the Xbox ...
