sounds like the kind of game you just have to try out, instead of trusting the reviewers 
so the average is somewhere around 7, 7.5. that's good enough... and not so great that EA won't sell any tiger woods '08 next year.
i don't think you can really compare non-wii golf games with wii golf games, since they're essentially totally different games.
in any case, in my mind, anything above an average of 7 is worth trying out. personal preference matter a great deal for games in the 7-8 range...
the Wii is an epidemic.
