Wait what?  Didnt MS say its over 1m units sold?

Thats like barely 440k units..... Does this mean Bundles+Digital+pc = 560k ?

Thats insane..... bundles mean alot I guess.

439k in US. 560k would be from WW digital + ROTW retail

Even then those numbers barely make any sense unless people from other regions are a lot more interested in TR than Americans.

The january sales of just 39k though (360+xb1)....thats kinda dissapointing.

Its sales fell off the side of a cliff.

People have to realize that the answer for low and/or underwhelming sales is not always:

CUT TEH PRICE NAO!!!11!!

The price of the Xbox One is fine as it is. Actually, cutting the price randomly on these months is not the right move because when the sale is over the numbers are going down fast until the next sale is available.

The videogame customer knows better than that. I would say that less than 5% of the community buys the cheaper option just because its cheaper, they know what they intend to buy.

I bought the Ps4 because i WANTED a Ps4, not because of the price or whatever.

The Playstation Brand is the stronger brand, you cannot evade that fact.

My post isn't about whether the NPD Group should or should not release data publicly. Its more that no one should expect or believe that they are owed that data. The NPD Group, like many market research firms, do not release their data in the public domain or for free. They provide a paid service to clients and its up to them what data they want to release publicly. The Interactive Entertainment industry isn't the only industry where market research firms charge for detailed data. So whilst I fully understand the comparison to the film industry releasing data publicly, it's not exactly the same thing.

 

That being said, I'm all for a more open industry where data is more widely available. But expecting people to leak that data when they're under NDA is wrong.

I was referring more to the post you claimed was smartest post you've read in a while. You agreed to it, but gave a different reason to the post you agreed to. I agree with what you wrote but not the post you agreed with, if that makes sense.

X1 was sold for 300 (retail price, no "deal" with cards like already mentioned) on Amazon and Walmart. http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1183109&page=100000 one post there quotes the pictures with the prices. 

BTW peeps it's pretty much confirmed by cream that the numbers were the ones in the OP because the Jan gap between PS4 and X1 was 98k.

 We can agree to disagree on the first part. RE games were fine for their time. Now they are antiquated and dated. Hope that helps.

So this user took screenshots of prices supposedly during January so he could throw them out in the NPD thread? LOL. And I know for a fact Walmart didn't have them all of January for that price... my younger brother bought an Xbox One in January and they were $350 at the lowest. He doesn't do online shopping but would have done in store pick up.. no $300 option.

That Amazon pic shows new and used from $249. Xbox One on sale for $249 all of January confirmed.
