Are you sure you're not thinking about the original Snake? Because I couldn't for the life of me get past 2000 points in that game, but in Snake II it's very doable.

There's something to be said about being first though. Being the first motion controlled game made it more memorable and laid the foundations for Sports Resort and the Motion+. I also don't actually have Sports Resort

That makes two sandbox style action/adventure games in a row, there are 1-2 of those left to go in my remaining 48 (1 definitely, not sure if another is)

I am probably quite rare in that the first incarnation of Snake I played was the mini game in TimeSplitters 2 called Anaconda. I did briefly own a Nokia (the 3310 which was really popular back then) after that which had a simpler 4 direction only version of snake though.

My 49th: Starquake (Amstrad CPC464)
This game was brilliant, if a bit difficult. You play BLOB (Bio-Logically Operated Being) who crash lands on a planet full of hostiles beings and has to find all the pieces of a core needed to stabilise the planet (A total of 9 different pieces). It was open world, featured hovercraft, teleporters and the locations of the core and it's pieces would randomly change with each new game. Really ahead of its time the game area was massive, colourful and a joy to explore its 2D landscapes.
