Forums - Sales Discussion - When does Sony reach the point of no return in Japan?

many people care too much about Final Fantasy ... this game is old and every time the same... i really loved it in the past but now its starting to get boring (for me) in 20 years we will see Final Fantasy 101 ??? in 100 years FF1000 ? iam really looking forward to Fire Emblem (Wii)

Yes. Moving DQIX on the DS is a great thing for S-E but not for players.
What good does it do if the PS3 doesn't have the install base? The DS is well on it's way to passing the PS2's install base in Japan, the PS3 as it is has no chance of getting anywhere near those numbers.
even PSP would provide much more exciting gameplay and all.
And most of the PSP's software isn't selling worth crap. Except the PS2 is on life support in Japan. Do you really think releasing a PS2 Final Fantasy XIV in Japan in 18-24 months from now would be feasible? Sony has already stated that backwards compatibility support on the PS3 is going to be "as is" very soon, leaving a lot of PS2 hopefuls stranded. kber81, you're welcome to your opinion, but the elitist perspective you give off isn't impressing anyone.

Big sales don't mean big game. It's like pop music. DS and Wii is like Britney...
Well it's sad you can't enjoy a game unless its shiny and pretty, but not everyone agrees. Yes it is mostly about numbers and sales, which is what I and others are trying to get through to Sony fanboys. Just because the PS3 has the best graphics and Blu-ray and whatever else isn't going to make it the winner in this generation. The number crunchers who are deciding to move games away from the PS3 to the DS, Wii, and 360 will play a much much bigger role in determining the winner.

lol, the PS3 reaches the point of no return by mid-next year if sales don't pick by then. Off Topic: I find it funny that people keep saying the PS3 is selling great with no games! Now, these are the same people who were saying- Pre-launch "The price doesn't matter you see how good RFOM looks it's going to sale" and then you have Motorstorm, VF5, Gundam, what happened when all these system sellers came out, face it the biggest game for the PS3 will be FFXIII and that's if it stays a exculsive.

Reminds me of when Nintendo kept saying don't worry, sales will pick up, just wait for Mario Sunshine, Zelda Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros., and Mario Kart DD. Nintendo fanboys waited, and waited, and waited..... (not me I should clarify, I'm a major fan of Nintendo but I'm not delusional like certain fanboys on this and other forums, I knew the GameCube was fighting for #2).

Let's put it this way, the "console wars" is like voting, with the exception that people with more money can afford to vote more than once. And right now in Japan they're voting heavily in favor of the DS and Wii platforms over the PS3 and PSP. At this point, if you lived in Japan, it'd look like you're in the minority. North America looks like it's starting to go in the same direction as well. We'll know Europe's stance when we see May's numbers.

The 360 would be better, mainly due to their isn't much difference in power bewteen the 360 and PS3, and if the 360 stays #1 in america, (which i think it will) a FF for them is 100%.

Predicting the Future - 360 Will get to 11 Million in the USA this year!!

Predicting the Future - Wii will NOT win this gen in America!!

Prediciting the Future - The PS3 will pass the Wii by 2009!!

Not really, the 360 is doing fine the ps3 is far from dead. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Yeah, the 360 is doing fine in North America. So-so in Europe, and non-existent in Japan. It's in a stable, but hardly overwhelming position with it's lineup. The PS3 isn't dead by a long shot, but it's just barely chugging along in 2 regions right now. The longer this "trend" continues, the more damage the outlook of the system will take. I'm not counting any chickens, believe me. The farm is down the road, and I'm too tired to go count'em. ;)

lol, yeah I remember that, I really buy Nintendo systems for their games but anything else that comes to them is a plus. @PS360N64PSXBOX The 360 is the one people should worry about they are doing fine in NA, but look at how fast the other to are catching up, Even if they never outsold the 360 in NA, the way they kill it in Japan makes the NA sales look least and least like a good lead.
