Yes. Moving DQIX on the DS is a great thing for S-E but not for players.
What good does it do if the PS3 doesn't have the install base? The DS is well on it's way to passing the PS2's install base in Japan, the PS3 as it is has no chance of getting anywhere near those numbers.
even PSP would provide much more exciting gameplay and all.
And most of the PSP's software isn't selling worth crap.
Except the PS2 is on life support in Japan. Do you really think releasing a PS2 Final Fantasy XIV in Japan in 18-24 months from now would be feasible? Sony has already stated that backwards compatibility support on the PS3 is going to be "as is" very soon, leaving a lot of PS2 hopefuls stranded.
