Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Cursed Mountain developer shut down

Hah. Serves them right. If they were smart enough to actually let people know they made a decent game, they could possibly still be standing. I suppose not every developer has common sense, and Deep Silver is one of those that lack it.

Wow already? So looking at VGChartz data 100k copies was obviously not good enough for a Wii game.

It's just that simple.

Actually it's 90k.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

I thought it was a very good game, despite the control flaws. Good production values, good story and atmosphere, different style of combat. Good first (and last) effort.

Yes.

Cursed Mountain has still to be bought. As a motivation I wrote an e-mail to the office of Deep Silver Vienna and asked them if they would sign my copy. I'm living in Vienna - so why not? I'm excited about their answer :).

Too bad. I just got Cursed Mountain (for $10 granted) and I'm quite enjoying it. It's definitely a budget game - no CGI or ingame cutscenes to speak off really (at least not so far) just art work with voice over by actors with such heavy accents it's hard to understand what they are saying at times.

However what little character models they did are solid, the art and graphics are good and the atmosphere is great. They obviously had limited development funds but spent it wisely. I would loved to have seen another game from them. CM was very original (is dated in design) and well done.

too bad... : (

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

At the time the choice for me was between Cursed Mountain and Muramasa.... Sorry DSV...

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

If they gave it some brightly colored box art and a cool name like Ninjabread Man, it probably would have sold better.
