Forums - Microsoft Discussion - My 360 got the RROD today and I'm glad.

Well, you had the warranty card, yeah, so maybe it is an enriching experience.

Maybe it was due to power socket overload problems?

"My 360 got the RROD today and I'm glad."

Now that's what Microsoft likes to hear.

Really, the title of this thread sounds like a joke. Or brainwashing. You, as a consumer are glad that a device you bought for your own hard-earned money broke so you can get a replacement. Microsoft sold you a badly designed/shoddily built device that broke prematurely. It broke and now have to send it in and will be deprived of it for a while. Please take a step back and try to see the absurdity.

Shouldn't the normal reaction be anger at Microsoft for selling you such a device in the first place as opposed to happiness about them fixing their own mistake for free?

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

Well we are X-BOTS .

I got the RROD like the same way. I was playing my PS3 more then after a month of not playing my 360, when I turned it on it got the RROD. I thought you get the RROD by playing it too much and letting it over heat. It seems RROD can happen in all kinds of ways.

You say you was happy getting RROD but I wasn't.

I'm sure he'd be angry if his warranty ran out already but since he gets it repaired for free, Microsoft gets to waste their money because of their poorly designed, failure prone piece of hardware.

@OP:
Ballmer just phoned me and told me he's glad too, as he normally feels people don't appreciate enough all the features that did cost them so much money and effort to put into their products.

I would have probably laughed at my first one, but it delayed me from playing Gears of War 2, and that is unacceptable

I don't think it's any coincidence that a console, Xbox or other typically chooses to give up the ghost right when one picks up a copy of X game that they were really looking forward to playing.

When was the last time anyone said shortly after seeing a blinking RRoD or YLoD said: "Well I didn't really want to play this game right now anyway and the two weeks it takes to get it fixed will give me some time to catch up on my reading."

Murphy's Law pretty much makes it so that your hardware fails right when you want to use it most.

But if you're REALLY that dedicated to X console platform and can't live a day without it, odds are you have more than one.
