Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How did you become a nintendo fan?

Some friends I had owned NESs. So I asked for the brand new Nintendo console, a SNES. I got it for Christmas, and immediately loved Super Mario World. I eventually got a subscription to Nintendo Power, got more games, and my love for Nintendo grew. The Donkey Kong Country series, Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario RPG, and Super Mario World 2 were among my favorites. I also got my first exposure to Zelda and Metroid, although I have found later installments of the series more enjoyable.

I have stuck with Nintendo consoles over the years. I just have to have my Mario platformers.

Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt !!!

It was also the day I learnt what the word simultaneously meant.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

When I purchased the Wii!

Yes, it was my first Nintendo home console, and I had each and every other previous gen consoles besides Nintendo's.

Of course I recovered many of the time I lost. I already have all the others, played all Zeldas, all Metroids, all Marios (of course I had played some of these before in friends' home), Banjos, Donkie Kong. I'm missing Starfox and F-Zero.

Now I can say I'm a complete gamer. I'm a fan of video game industry as a whole :)

Same here.

Same here.  Never stopped being a fan.  I was skeptical, picking up Wii Sports Resort today.  However, I was pleased to discover it is actually fun!

Man you should watch this video on gametrailers.com.  It shows how indestrustible the Nintendo game catriage is.  It last alot longer than the current gen with the disk.  I remember my nephew sat his 360 upright and it scratched the mess out of his disk

Hmm I'm not sure if it started with the GameBoy or GameCube.

My friend had Pokemon Yellow on the original GB. One day he decided Pokemon was un-cool so he gave me his GB with Pokemon Yellow!! So pretty much since then I was heavily into Pokemon but not much else.

I decided to buy a GameCube when the Sega Dreamcast failed as I knew Sonic was heading that way and of course Pokemon would likely end up on GC too. But the GameCube come with 2 titles I'd never played before. Zelda: Wind Waker (incl OoT) and Super Smash Bros Melee! I remember playing Wind Waker for the first time and being completely blown away. That was probably when I become a real Nintendo fan.

It began when my parents bought me and my brother a SNES back in the day. How could we not get an N64 after that. Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time alone would have made that my favorite system. My brother got a gamecube but I was in college and gave up on console games playing PC because it made more sense as a poor college student. The wii came along and I bit like so many others who basked in the light of the drug that is wii sports. Now I have a shelf full of wii games, a shelf full of ps2 games, a ps3 with a library growing much too fast and not enough time to play anything. My friend said 3 years ago that this generation eventually everyone will have a wii and a PS3 or 360. They are really different animals and I'm glad I have both, I'll always support nintendo because I value their commitment to fun and new experiences. I love my PS3 because it does everything else I wish nintendo's miracle did.

My parents bought me a NES when I was 11 for xmas. It was all downhill from there.

Because my parents got me a GameBoy when I was like 4 or something, back when it came out, with Super Mario Land. I was hooked from the start.
