i hope not, more competition is better for the market

AS much as I hate MS, the 360 is a good product (not good built mind you). They have really drived online gaming, and achievements seem to be really popular.

three competitors = 3 companies trying to outdo each other and improve upon their competitors ideas = better for gaming.

I really have to congratulate the VGC community for keeping this thread remarkably civil, just a year ago it probably would have resulted in more than a few bannings. We've really progressed a great deal.

@topic: Well, the 360 is my console of choice so I'd never want to see MS get out, but as many have noted competition drives innovation so I wouldn't want sony to get out either.

And if anyone was to leave it certainly wouldn't be Microsoft, it is Sony that have all the money worries even with the PS3 selling well, do Sony even have enough money to make a PS4 and release it? not looking good at the moment.

Microsoft is going nowhere in the console market, they will stay until Sony leave or go bust, simple as that, Sony is the reason Microsoft entered the console market....

no, MS or Sony won't leave the Industry and I dont hope so either because the competition means good quality for us consumers.. :D

to everyone on the MS not taking VG seriously,

1st- this is a business and all 3 are in it for Money
2nd- give them a break, 2nd system they manage to do a great job vs the competitor that had 90% of the market the last round.
3rd- they said they are in it for the long run.

The "saying", you live and learn. They have made some foolish moves this Gen, yes we know it but huge corporate companies aren't like your friends that will keep making the same mistakes. I don't believe the xbox1 had such a big failure rate, but they made a system that obviously can be done right. Ok so they aren't the that popular in Japan, big surprise but they did do hell a lot better than the last time. So maybe 3rd time they might be selling 15 to 20k a week with better HW. I would expect the 3rd system to answer this failure rate issue and it has been a nail on their forehead. If the 360 had equal failure rate as the ps3 and free gold live account, what would be the hate then?

I wouldn't want them to leave, maybe try and match PSN and so gamers win regardless. Have gold and platinum accounts. ( gold being free but allow co-op/multiplay online) platinum gives you access to all the twit,facebook etc stuff)

truly to want a competitor out of the game would only hurt us, we need them in the game as each one would need to up the stake each time, if not gaming wouldn't advance as it has.

Are you saying they haven't damaged PC gaming? C'os I'm pretty sure they have; closing down or selling pretty much all of there PC based studios (that had been very successful I might add), releasing DirectX10 on Vista alone when they could have had the features and run it on XP and even on DX9, and finally the shodiness of Windows Live.

On the console side I'm not sure what Rage Bot meant. Maybe that MS have helped bring the problems PC gaming had to consoles? (e.g. Early release, patch later mentality).

OT: No. I might hate their business practices, and they might have done a lot to destroy PC gaming recently, but they have done a lot of good for the industry too.

hmm of course i wouldnt want it to go its a great console. It has created more competition for nint and sony which means more innovation and better games. But what i hate about xbox is it created a group of gamers called elitist casuals who are the bane on this generation. They are ignorant and loud mouthed,they also shove their opinion down the throats of people who dont like fps or disagree with their opinion. They also think they are hardcore because they buy a few AAA games a year.

and why the hell would you want nintendo to leave..thats just ridiculous thing to say. They basically set the foundations of how gaming is today.
