Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So, did any Wii owners remember...

i guess they wanted to have this on the market for the holidays, it should sell purely on the fact its mario and sonic, regardless of the fact its based on the upcoming olympics. They will probably push the game again and on a bigger scale when they olymics are to start.

I hope its a good game anyway, i miss the PS1 track n' field days

Hey Montana...considering that there never was a hype train on this game...I mean, really. That sounds like a post I might find at System Wars over at Gamespot.

The only Sonic any Wii fanboys have ever cared about was the one in Smash. The only reason the news of this game even made the rounds here was because it was almost confirmation that Sonic would appear in Brawl. And guess what...we were right. So why would we care about this game?

4 million? No way.

I think the DS version is supposed to make up over half of that "4 million." Has anyone seen any Sega ads on TV?

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

What, did you expect everyone to just go commit a mass suicide because they couldn't contain their excitement? Its just another game release. Next week we are having even more games come out. It's November; it's expected. What expectations do you have of what their level of excitement should be that you felt like calling out all Wii owners for?

I agree with super_etecoon.  Taking it a step further, it seems you just want to start something based on the assumption that anyone who likes Wii doesn't know what they are doing.  If it turns out to be rated decent and shows good controls, then I might pick it up, but with its primary calling card being a Sonic/Mario crossover, I'm not digging that.  I'm sure it will sell well regardless, but there are plenty more titles in the coming weeks that are more worth my time for Wii.

have no time to play it this year, will have to wait til next year (not like i have a choice since i think it was actually delayed in Aus til next year anyways)

wow I did not know that it has already released. I remember some crazy predictions. Where are the hypers? Its a big release people should be more interested.

Well Montana, despite what Sega thinks most Wii owners I know have no interest in this game. Maybe it will pull a Wii play and Mario Party and sell well, but 4 million units is crazy. Sega needs to stop doing drugs and seek rehab immediately.

That doesn't even make any sense.

All I'm saying is that there was a lot of hype from Nintendo and Sega...

MARIO AND SONIC COMPETING IN THE OLYMPICS? OMG!!!

And there seemed to be a lot of hype from Wii owners. I thought the game looked stupid the whole time, but there was a lot of hype when it was announced and now that's it being released today and no one even acknowledges its existence...

It just seems a bit odd.

Sounds like you'd be happy to see this game fail.

I never saw a hype train, just a VERY optimistic statement by Sega. Preponing the release seemed to be a last minute decision and may have torpedoed their marketing plans... I don't know. I hope it will be successful, because it looks like a lot of effort was put into this game. I'm tired of the "another minigame" accusations - come on, it's a track'n'field game. Where was the epic storyline in "Winter Games"?

I'll buy it, but I live in Europe, so...

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)
