Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why so many Wii dissapointment threads lately?

for me the dissapointment comes from being in the UK and the delays (Zak and Wiki just annonced as delayed now), we have a very high rate of people buying the Wii - where I work it's like the new PS2 for gawds sake with that many people getting it but yet we get last pickings all of the time, bought the Wii at launch night, completed Zelda Red Steel, Raymans Raving Rabbits and Tony Hawks then never picked another game up since April then got Trauma Centre, Elebits, RE4 and aroung End of August ended up buying 360 just to have something to play.

Been a very frustrating year for uk gamers from my perspective

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

Lets be clear here, people like to think that just because someone responds to a negative comment about a Wii we are somehow attacking folks. This simply isn't the case. If you post your concerns you are asking for responces otherwise you wouldn't need to let us all know. So when people get those responces they get to decide how to react to them and if the reasoning is enough to change their minds.

As for this percieved "can't hate the wii" attitude that is BS. A lot of Wii fans had the exact same responce back when Leo-J pulled a very serious thread about how the PS3 was a failure and he was feeling down about it. Several Wii & PS3 fans responded explaining that the PS3 was far from dead in the water and that it still had things it could do.

Nobody was coddling Leo and telling him it was going to make a big comeback to first, but we were still correcting his mistaken assumptions even though so called fanboys would be dancing around the fire laughing at the thread.

That is a stark contrast to what happened with Rol's thread, instead of Sony fans disagreeing with the points that were wrong they piled on and in general I think that shows a completely different mindset on this website between the two groups of people.

It was none of you frequent guys who responded, it was some other dude who was far less respective and eloquent to say the least... Don't matter though, if people can't voice their opinion in ways suitable for others than 12 year old's, it's that much easier to ignore... right?

That said; I think most of you who have been users here a long time will agree that there is massive Wii support in here! Not that that's a bad thing, heck, it's miles better than the 90% BoxBoyz over at Gamespot who are about 10 years old on average...

As for my stance in the whole console wars; I like to keep track of both hardware and software (especially the latter), but I've yet to make the next gen leap (perhaps it's about time we call it current gen now?). This is more out of economic reasons than choice though, and I'll be getting a PS3 next year, allthough; I'm not as fond of the machine as I thought I'd be.

People love to hate the Wii. Especially the guys that are hard core Sony fan boys. The 360 guys not so much. What I can't figure out, is why the PS3 people feel so threatened by the Wii. I know it is a pain in the butt to be getting stomped sales wise by two other consoles but hey! Buck up! If this were the olympics Sony would be wearing a big ole Bronze medal around their crooked little necks. Never mind the fact that they are third in a three man race. (That means last place guys.) Here I am getting off on a tangent.
I have heard that the Wii sales have been going down and that the PS3 sales are "SKYROCKETING". Color me unimpressed. When it comes down to it the Wii has sold close to 10 million more consoles than the PS3 has. If the PS3 sales are skyrocketing, then with the Wii outselling the PS3 2 to 1 it's sales must be down right BLISTERING!
I want to point out that the Wii isn't even really competing against the PS3. You guys can get your panties out of your ass cracks and relax. A console sells itself. It just so happens that, as of now, more people want a Wii than a PS3. Why Sony fanboy types insist on demonizing anyone that buys a Wii, as casual, and thereby insignificant, is beyond me. Guitar Hero 3 is as casual a game as they come, but has a hardcore element to it. Resident Evil 4, even though it's a port is still a great game. Metroid Prime 3 was fantastic. Brawl and Soul Caliber Legends will be very casual games, but have a depth that will impress and entertain the hardcore crowd. Just buy the system that you want and shut up! Noone cares what you or I like. Just be glad that you have grown up in a time when there are 3 viable consoles worth buying, where all three companies are supporting their system. Buy the one you want, and enjoy it.

And the PS3 wasn't a hype machine?

Yeah, but people just assume if you own a PS3 you've been disasapointed do to some of their big games flopping, and games like Lair getting awful reviews.

I don't know though.  I've found plenty of awesome games.

The best being MLB power pros.  A game with no motion control at all.  It's not just motion controls that make the Wii fun, it's that my arms don't have to be in a ridgid poistion around my lap.  It's a lot easier to chill in games that don't use the pointer or motion controls.

The funny thing is, anyone can do this game.  Yet only the Wii and PS2 did.  It didn't sell though.  Really that's the problem i'd wager.  Their are good games out their, people are just buying the other ones.

If the Wii would have more M rated games ( quality ones ) than yes , I would buy one . Unfortunatly God of War is a Sony proprety and thats a game that would make me buy a Wii . The truth is people often confuse hardcore games with Mature games . IMO GTA is a softcore games 90 % whom played it are casual gamers , while Zack and Wiki seems pretty hardcore even though a bit to cute :)

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, No More Heroes, Godfather, Manhunt2...

all a bit too cute for my taste. Don't worry, give the wii time, as it gobbles up more franchizes you'll start seeing much more M rated titles.

Do you also sneak out to see R rated movies instead of PG-13, just because it's R and not PG-13?  Must mean it's the cool thing to do.

Numbers: Checker Players > Halo Players

Checkers Age and replayability > Halo Age and replayability

Therefore, Checkers > Halo

So, Checkers is a better game than Halo.

Rol pwned VGChartz yesterday by filling the Wii Bingo grid. That's all.

Also, let's get this out of the way:
You are allowed to not completely like the Wii. There are flaws, and the other systems have advantages. It's OK.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
