Indeed, The ultimate Genesis/Megadrive collection may have games like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage 2 on the disc, but not having online multiplayer was a let down, hence i have Golden Axe and Streets of Rage 2 for XBLA aswell because my buddies in the outside world don't tend to share my enthusiasm for old skool games.

I still play Streets of Rage 2 online to this very day, i was on it last night and had a blast.

Best 400 MS points i ever spent (both quality and longevity wise)

As for my fave console..................... Sega Megadrive.

Top 3 games.............

1. Streets of Rage 2
2. Sonic and Knuckles
3. Revenge of Shinobi

Mi vote goes for the best console eveeeeer: SNES!!

My first console ever!!

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

Good idea for a poll, kinda, but the only system that can be mentioned in the same breath as the SNES is the Genesis, and that's all it gets it's a mention. SNES, in my opinion, still has the best library of games ever released for a console. I await the day a console pleases me as much as my Super Nintendo did.

I would easily put the Megadrive in "the same breath" as the SNES.

Both had quality titles in every genre.

Megadrive had the superior Mortal kombat version which included blood.

Streets of Rage is FAR better than Final Fight ect ect.

There were some genres that were far better on the SNES than the Megadrive (Namely RPG's)

But theres also Genres that were better on the Megadrive.

Bottom line____________________________ is that both consoles were simply fantastic and i'm PROUD to say that i owned both durig the height of their popularity.

I do agree that Genesis (megadrive, w/e) had some good titles.  RPG's is what does it for me though, and while Genesis had a few good ones, even their best can't compare to games like Secret of Mana, Crono Trigger, every Final Fantasy released on it, Secret of Evermore, Illusion if Gaia etc.  And I was a fanatic about and owned every Phantasy Star from that era as well.  As a matter of fact, the Phantasy Star collection is the single reason I bought the Ultimate Genesis Collection..anything else I liked on it was simply a perk of the title, but not a reason to own it.  Ok, that and the Sonic games.

That 'era' of gaming was the best, carries the most nostalgia, and will probably never be topped in terms of immersion and quality.  I'm in no way shape or form saying that the Genesis wasn't a good console.  I'd say it easily rivals any of the consoles out right now, but I still think SNES was better.

The 'same breath' statement was over-statement, and I apologize.  But for my personal tastes as a gamer, I don't have to think twice about choosing the SNES.

No worries about the "same breath" comment.

Your passion for the SNES like mine for the Megadrive is clearly high.

One things for sure............ Those two consoles combined beat ANY console generation before or after them IMO.

I named my top 3 for the Megadrive, so i think its only fair i name my top 3 for the SNES too.

1. Super Mario World

2. Super Mario Kart

3. Killer Instinct

Good times.............. good times indeed

My Wii collection is quite shambolic at the moment i must admit.

I'm very much looking forward to Bayonetta on January 8th and Splinter Cell: Conviction on february 23rd, but once i have done with those two i think its time i got back on my Wii.

NSMB is a game i will defo pick up, and i will pay the full R.R.P. aswell because Nintendo thoroughly deserve my money.
