Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should I Buy Xbox 360 or PS3?

fooflexible said: I have the 360, I'd say the 360 all the way, It's not just cheaper, since it's been out it has a nice selection of games really cheap. For example you can pick up game like Burnout Revenge, Project Gotham Racing 3, Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo all for 30 bucks each. There is plenty more cheap that you can get used. Right now the ps3 hardly has anything exclusive that's worth it. For Resistence there's Gears of War. And personally if you like racing games you can get several great racing games on the 360 for half the price of Motorstrom. Plus the exclusives this year are all going to be insane on the 360: Forza 2 Mass Effect(this one looks amazing) Blue Dragon Lost Odyssey Halo 3 You simply can't go wrong with the 360. I don't think a ps3 is worth picking up until spring 2008 when they'll finally have some good exclusives, and a price drop. Unless your dying for a blu-ray player I can't imagine picking the ps3 over the 360 this year.
I'd like to add that if your big into sports games like madden or NBA live then there really isn't any reason to go with the PS3 over the 360. Both will sport almost identical graphics and features across multi-platform titles, so if thats your cup of tea it's best to save the cash. It really comes down to the exclusives for each, which is what you should be looking at.

if you're into online gaming at all, you have to ask yourself if the higher price for the 360 is worth the extra features of the online service compared to Sony's. If you're a casual online player, the PS3 seems more worth it. Even if you're really into online, the PS3 may still be more worth it because their online service is improving every day and Resistance proves that the current setup is pretty solid to begin with. On top of that, the $600 model has built in WiFi, which is highly convenient, and is still cheaper than an XBOX premium with 5 years of Live. And think of the Blu-Ray player as cake. The other thing you have to think about is obviously the exclusives, which might be the most important thing.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

for 600 Games Blu ray wifi 60 gigs FREE online... xbox you have to pay!!! right now get Resistence Motorstorm Tekken (only $20 download) ... VF5 if you like figthers. Game scoming this year, PS3 only. Lair Ninja Gaiden Sigma (remake) Heavenly Sword Hot Shots Golf 5 Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Killzone Warhawk Eyedentify Sigstar all the big ass multi platform games like BlackSite: Area 51 Unreal Tournament 3 Grand Theft Auto IV Haze Devil May Cry 4 Home is also launchig this year. Hus - you missed one of the biggest ones. Little Big Planet If your buying a console for playing 'today' I say get a 360. If your buying what you wanna be playing next year, I say a PS3. Simple as that.

Welcome back Kwaad! The Hitman - Microsoft is announcing something big over the next two days(something tonight, something tomorrow night)... Could be the Xbox 360 elite, could be new exclusives (Some Star Wars 360 exclusive is rumored), or free Xbox Live... nobody really knows, but there sure seems to be alot of buzz!

I'd say later this year. Every month from here on there is a game scheduled that should get great ratings and really start to show off the PS3. Resistance had to carry the system for awhile (although I personally enjoyed Ridge Racer 7 and I'm a sucker for the x-men legends games so of course I liked Marvel Ultimate Alliance) but now Motorstorm and Elder Scrolls is out and next month it just gets better. Just a note: RR7 is mostly RR6 but refined, and of course Ultimate Alliance is on the 360 as well, hence Resistance carrying the system even though multi-platform games were there. Def Jam Icon and NBA Street 4 (called homecourt instead of 4, but whatever) and other sports games were released as well. MLB: The Show is of course Sony so if you like that game, which I believe was the more popular baseball game last year at least (instead of EA's MVP Baseball), you have that this month. Home also goes into beta next month. Btw, out of those racing games listed above, how many support 12 players online? I am not trying to be cute here, I honestly don't know if they do support it. Motorstorm does, and I know RR7 supported at least 8, and I believe 12 as well.

Don't buy any. Playstation 3 doesnt worth its 600+$$ without games right now. (You can buy it for blu-raying though) Xbox 360 is rumored to get redesigned very soon, and there is a possibility of a price drop too. 360 looks like a better choice only because it had no competitors for a year and now its having rather weak competiton. What does 360 have ? A bunch of shooters. However we are getting Mass Effect, Forza 2, Blue Dragon and more this year. So, personally i would buy a 360 but only after redesignpricedrop and when some great games are out. [read: summer-fall 2007]

Motorstorm online has a glitch, it needs to be fixed. I beat the entire game with gold. I race online without useing the glitch. I am usually 10seconds behind the people glitching. Then everyone else is about 20-30 seconds behind me. I dont use the glitch. I got gold on everything in the game. I thought 2 races were 'hard' All the reviews say it was ungodly hard. I thought it was kinda easy... Just gotta play it smart. But yes, 12 player, and it works quite nice... (I love knocking people off their bikes) amiiam - I agree with that. However in 3-5 months after the price-drop/redesign. The PS3 would then be as good as a console... it would just have wider varity of games. Putting the PS3 beside the 360. That's why I say... if you wanna buy tomorrow. 360. If you wanna buy one to keep for 5 years. PS3.

Buy a 360 for today AND tomorrow. How bout that. If I ever got enough money, I might get a 360, although I'd probably rather upgrade my computer first. Also don't pass up the Wii...but you can always get one later!

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
