Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should i get a PS3 or X360? (Wii owner)

Yeah, i was going to say... Most people who own all 3 consoles tend to like their 360's best... so I don't know where you get that from Zackblue.

I'm pretty sure Starcraft and Rocketpig have all 3 as well don't they? They seem to favor their 360's as well.

I have owned all three. I sold my Wii because I hadn't played it in two months. I'll buy another one next year when SMG, Mario Kart, SSBB, and a few other games are out so I know it won't have any downtime for awhile.

I hardly play the PS3. There just isn't anything that really gets me excited right now, though Uncharted is coming and I'm really looking forward to that.

My 360 gets played almost every day. It seems like a game I want to play has been launching almost every week lately. I can barely keep up.

Advantages for the PS3:

Blu-ray if you have a HDTV
free online
Uncharted, Ratchet, Haze now
UT 3 very soon
FF XIII, MGS 4, GT 5, KZ2, MS2, RFoM 2 later
Back compat with PS2 maybe
The problem of poor ports will be gone soon

How many AAA Xbox 360 games are there that are coming out this and next year?
This a serious question, cause I don't actually know, apart from Halo 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect

Sorry, double post

My .02 here... I'm a cheap bastard. I like cheap games... Since the 360 has been out a year longer, many titles are "platinum" or just plain cheap used. There are lots of titles you can pick up for under $30 bucks... I got a 360 for precisely that reason -- what is ALREADY available and to some degree what is coming out.... I'm working on a PS3, lol, and when it does get here the same thing will apply -- cheap games or nothing. I can't bring myself to pay $60 for a 6 hour game... That seems to be what "next-gen" is all about right now. Hopefully games like Mass Effect will start the ball rolling back in the other direction (longer)....

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

I only own a PS3, and the game that I spend the most time playing is Warhawk. Of course, im in my mid 20's and dont have alot of time to play video games. I would just get the system you want the most. If I ever get a 360 I would get an elite (after they fix the red ring of death problem, which I think they have with a new 65mm chip). If you have alot of time and need alot of games, I would get a 360. (and thats from a ps3 owner) If you have a family and a high def tv like myself, i would get a ps3 so you can watch blu ray movies, and still get some gaming in from time to time. If your a fan of MGS, GT, and FF like myself (and they dont go multiplatform) you might stay with the playstation. If you like Halo, and Mass Effect (which is the top game that is making me want a 360), then get a 360. Good Luck!

All of the games you listed are 360 exclusives or multi-platforms.

Therefore i'd conclude anyone who tries to talk you into a PS3 really isn't thinking about which system you should get... but which system they want you to get.

The most honest response in this thread.

I own both...

Based on the games you're interested in, plus the huge library, plus the platinum hits that could be had for cheap now, it's an easy choice.  360 easily.

PS3 does have a great Blu Ray player though...

It's hard to judge AAA games right now because MS has a lot of new IP coming next year. They could end up being Lair or they could end up being Bioshock. It's too early to tell. Here are a few of the big ones though:

- Alan Wake (from the Max Payne guys... should be good)

- Too Human (game is really unknown at this point, could go either way)

- Fable 2 (as close to an automatic winner as the 360 will get next year)

- Halo Wars (from Ensemble, makers of AoE series, but I'm very skeptical of console RTS)

- Lost Odyssey (will definitely be a must buy for JRPG fans)

- Infinite Undiscovery (Square Enix RPG developed by Tri-Ace with the dumbest name to ever grace a video game)

There are a few others that I know are escaping me right now but those are a few of the premiere games coming next year. A lot of people are underrating the 360 lineup next year, it will be good (though probably not quite as good as the PS3 lineup).

Why ask on here ?

Go to so 360site ask them why 360 is good.
Go to a PS3 site ask why PS3 is good.

Weigh your results and choose.

Because there are fans of both consoles here, and also people who know how to give a honest and well justified recommendation?

They mostly dont have that ability and it can be seen in just about every thread, including this one.

You can't even ask a fanboy of one to choose the best between the two others since they will see one of them as a bigger threat to their console of choice.

Only thing you can count on is each side making a damn good argument for their consoles superiority over the other.

I've already addressed the "free online" and "Blu-Ray" points in my last post, so...

All of the games you mentioned aside from R&C aren't even out yet. Never buy a console based upon unreleased games which may or may not be good.

Also, the fact that the PS3 seems to be getting inferior versions of cross-platform titles isn't exactly encouraging.

Finally, who honestly thinks Home looks like anything more than a gimmick?

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

He mentioned 3 games.

Besides, Home is no more of a gimmick than the Wii. See how that works?
