Forums - Gaming Discussion - Eco-Box: a greener way to protect games

While this may be a new thing for 360 games, several of my recent DVD purchases have had similar holes cut out. Sounds like it's the entire industry trying to cut back on materials cost, and tell people they did it to be environmentally aware.

It doesn't bother me.
BTW my L4D2 box doesn't show EA anywhere on the box, nor the credits. It says Valve.

It's just that simple.

Looks like this is largely due to Wal-Mart.

Eco-box has blu-ray cases as well...

The biggest problem is the global human population and not consumption.  We cannot continue to grow the population without over pilaging resources and creating unsustainable environmental issues.  Everything has a balance and sustainment breaking point.  With the population of humans on the planet constantly growing we get closer to that breaking point every day.  The population of any given medium sized mamal species (like we are) should by in the 10's and low 100's of millions...  NOT billions...

If the human population was 500 million rather then 8 billion, there would not be near as many environmental issues.

What problem? Global Warming? This is not a problem.

The problem is the pollution on rivers and farms etc...in the current monetary system, kill de nature(so, also us) is a good thing for the economy.

The population is not a problem. There are Resources for 10+ billion people(if not 100+). There are enough water and food for 10+bi, and almost infinity energy. With a recycling program for ALL products in the world, than our resources is unlimited. There is a cycle in nature, and we only have to utillize this for our favor.

The problem in your tought is that the human is not even useless, but something negative for the Earth. The Earth is not going to anywhere.

(sorry for bad english)

The problem is that fossil fuels are finite. If we run out of fossil fuels before we have a replacement ready, then we will experience quite a setback until we do have replacements. The longer we can make the oil last, the better prepared we will be. Simple as that.

ya I noticed that case too, thought it was weird

Works like a regular case, but it is flimsy-er.

Cost cutting more than about the environment, me thinks.
Still.. It works. I am more disapointed in the fact that all game manuals are now 8 pages in length and only cover the controls.
I have already gotten brutal legend and modern warfare 2 and they have cases in this way, and the shitty manuals. It's gotta be cost-cutting.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Global warming is no lie. It happens. but it could be a lie that its caused by the humans. 70 million years in the past the CO2 was a lot of higher then today infact there was no ice on this planet. Everything was tropical. The earth is heating up but that happens all the time it heats up and it goes down periodicaly. We know for sure in 10000 years there will be an iceage. The clima is changing all the time the temperature goes up and down.

Infact the oil was once a plant and before that it was CO2 in the atmosphere.

But thats not the reason why we should be careful with our resources. The big (HUGE) problem is that the China and India are getting bigger and bigger. They are 2 times as big compared to the rest of the western civilization. They buy all the oil they can. And the US needs more and more. Here in Europe the trend goes down because we know that the addiction to fossile fuels will be a problem in the future. Especially for the economy and that the addiciton to other countrys can cause a lot of trouble.

There is not enough oil on this planet. Yes of course they can make use of the oil sand in alaska but its a lot of times more expensive then using the the traditional oil sources. Even with the oil sand the demand will explode in the next decades if we dont have better technology.

A gallon costs here 5 Euro (7,50 Dollar) and the price will be probably twice as high in the next 10 years. The US has not enough oil to satisfy their own demand. And they need every year more and more oil. And then there is China they have plenty of money. (The Chinese National Bank has 10times more dollar then in Fort Knox is Gold) They could buy 10 Fort knox just with their Dollars and they would have even a lot of Euros left.

If the Chinese and Indias people would have a Car then there would be NO more Oil for other purposes.

The western civilzation needs alternative energys. No dependance on anyone all the money would stay in the countrys and all the jobs too. Saving ressources is smart saving ressources is saving money the green technology is the new engine of the economy and will be the next logical step. If you dont care about the environment you should care about your pocket. New inovations leads always to jobs-> stronger economy and more wealth for the people.

PLEASE NO THANKS

let the car & industrial people worry about that!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I just answered to the discussion about savin plastic. As the other people did too.

The thing is YOU as a customer have a vote everytime you buy something or dont. So its logical to think about it because you have influence on the economy itself and on the car and industrial people.

The solutions are there they exist but the people have to buy them. Its just a matter of time then you will be forced to be ecological from the industry and from your government. No matter which party you elect.
