Forums - Sony Discussion - What's the most Sony biased third-party?

Konami for sure. Insomniac Games even if they're pratically second party. Atlus as well, if Persona 5 ends up as a PS3 exclusive (hopefully! xD).

EA

I would say Insomniac like many other's, but what multiplat game has it ever released.
Koei, and maybe Atlus but they don't make that many great games.

Rockstar I think is a hidden given as no matter what they try and lean towards sony, (AGENT)
Even though they had to cancel GTA$ exlcusive they make up for it with and exclusive game which is differnt to Episode from liberty city as that was a bought exclusive (40 million changes anyone's mind)

I vividly remember the conference where Capcom signed a deal to make like a gazillion exclusive games for Gamecube. Of course not all of them stayed exclusive due to the lack of success of the Cube, but the games were awesome. I thought Viewtiful Joe kicked serious ass.

So how can Capcom be the most biased? Sure, during PS1 days you *could* have made this statement and gotten away with it, but key moments in vg history seem to prove you wrong. Even during the PS1 gen Capcom put it's games on Saturn and N64. PS1 just happened to be a runaway success. Therefore the increased support.

What about RE:Code Veronica on the Dreamcast? It was the pride and joy of Sega fans and was only ported to other platforms ages later. I could mention other games on DC like Powerstone, but I guess you didn't think of that?

So PS1 gen I would say maybe you could be right, but I would put it down to PS1 success. During PS2 gen I would say HELL NO. And now? I think previous posts have addressed current gen.

From all the Capcom 5 exclusives, only PN 03 remained GC exclusive. VJ, Killer 7 and RE4 went to the PS2 later, Dead Phoenix got canned. Even if you include RE0 and REmake, the number of GC exclusives is way, way smaller than the PS2 exclusives.

RE Code Veronica... pride and joy that didn't remained exclusive for long time and got a PS2 release shortly after. Most of Capcom's DC games got a Sony console release as well. Even if you consider all Capcom's DC exclusives, the number is, by far, smaller than PS2. I'll say again, to say the GC and Xbox got the same PS2 support from Capcom is an omega failure statement.

N64 only 3, I said 3 games from Capcom, two of them were years late ports: RE2 and Megaman Legends. Saturn games, most of them, were late ports from PSX games, although some of them were superior to the PSX version, many of them were Japan only titles and never got a western release. Many Capcom games like RE2 and Megaman X5 which previous games of the series got a Saturn release didn't came to it. Saturn had few Capcom exclusives. Again, you can't say Saturn and N64 support were on par to PSX because isn't true.

Now see the PS2 exclusives... most of them are still PS2 exclusive till today, never got out from it.

You focus too much on number of games rather than the IPs and the quality.  Resident Evil and Street Fighter are two of Capcoms biggest and last gen they went to DC first and only after the DC died did they port.  They also went to the GC before the PS2.   Infact for all of last gen the PS2 did not get a new Street Fighter game or a new main series RE game, one of their current big things (Monster Hunter) has gone to the Wii exclusively when their other big IPs are multiplatform.

How you can say Capcom are the most biased company when they have given good support to nearly all consoles over the years is amazing.  The only bias Capcom has is following the money (even then not always).

So, are you not including Onimusha, God Hand and Devil May Cry on the quality list? There's something really wrong here.

Street Fighter never went to the GC before PS2. Only Capcom vs SNK 2 got a GC version and a later release than PS2 version.

Who is the most Sony biased publisher/developer. Everyone is naming publishers and studios that are pro-biased to Sony. But this generation I think more companies are now going anti-Sony and those studios/publishers outnumber pro-Sony publishers studios. So which publisher is the biggest Anti-Sony publisher, I'd have to say Hal Lab's, or how about Bungie?

As for the argument of which publisher/studio is most pro-Sony, I would have to say Konami. Konami spent million developing MetalGearSolid4 money they knew they could not recouperate yet they developed it anyways.

Some said Capcom, I'd say Capcom is the most Japanese biased publisher. Since Capcom gave GameCube and PS2 as much support as they possibly could while leaving the X-Box without much support at all. Then many mentioned Sega, but I'd have to say Sega supports Nintendo alot more then they support Sony!

Most would agree that what they wanted to do and what they eventually did differed because of financial considerations. Gamecube had a record-breaking launch and if they ended up selling 70mil then I think Capcom's software would've showed it.

"Again, you can't say Saturn and N64 support were on par to PSX because isn't true."

That's not what I'm saying. Saturn crashed and burned and N64 wasn't nearly as big as PS1. I meant that they are not "Sony-biased", but rather that they are making good financial decisions while still serving all the platforms. That would make them smart, not Sony-biased and that's why I don't agree with the OP. It's a good topic though.
