That means I'll be giving Sony profit :P

Possibly, but Sony said the Playstation division is making profit so, it's all good :)

More than likely.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

lol sony willl never drop from the console business, they are the most successful console makers ever, and i dont think this will make them stop, the PS3 has a big future are its going brin in a shit load if money for sony, remember, the money SONY is making from the psp, and ps3, but stil u woldent want a consle that going to make you loose money, but it will eventually brinng massive profits. and it starts with with 250GB

and speaking of PSP, sony should hurry up and release the PSP 2, psp sales are getting pretty average compared to the dsi, sony should hurry and release there second PSP and make ir the same price as the dsi, if not around 50.00 more expensive

It will make some profit

Sony will be badly in red in next report. Slim does cost still more than they get.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/25/sony-still-losing-money-of-ps3-slim-hardware/

"The Q&A is an interesting read in whole, but the answer that stands out comes in response to a question about whether the lower-priced $299 PS3 Slim will be sold at a loss relative to its cost to manufacture. "Yes," was the quick answer from Kaz."

And how much? Nobody really knows, but there are some guesses like this one.

http://www.geek.com/articles/games/ps3-slim-costs-sony-100-on-every-sale-20090820/

"The surprise came when she suggested that the new PS3 Slim is actually costing Sony $100 more to manufacture per machine than the selling price meaning Sony is still making a loss on every sale."

And when you add how well slim is selling right now its bloody red all over. However it has more potential because of sold consoles. (Darn I start to sound like ps3 fanboys when they are talking about cell. :/)

So for topic I would say that they won't be breaking even with 250GB PS3.

If they weren't at least breaking even, they would have released it at $399. So yeah.
